On April 1st SnapPower gathered with many other community members to take part in celebrating autism awareness month. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental disability that affects both children and their families.
In a society that too often idolizes cookie-cutter-sameness, we can instead make choices to celebrate the positive and unique contributions that individuals with autism make. We can make a difference in their world by fully including them. Choices like these will bring good changes to our culture and promote a new and better perspective of differences in all people. Everyone has value to offer in a community and, just like the rest of us, people with autism deserve to be treated accordingly. What if we all made a change to be more inclusive and understanding? How many smiles could be spread? Talk about something to celebrate!
